SPIRIX - LITTLE DOUBTS (FT. AVIELLA)

Music, Original MixMike DooseComment

I first discovered Spirix when his remix of “Glory Days” by Sweater Beats and Hayley Kiyoko was algorithmically fed to me by my Spotify Discover Weekly or Release Radar, can’t remember which one exactly. I knew right away that this young producer had real talent. Turns out he has some mutual friends of the blog as well in Moving Castle founders Robotaki and Manila Killa. Definitely check out his remix of their track “I Want You” feat. Matthew John Kurz here.

His latest single “Little Doubts” is further reason to keep the name Spirix firmly on your radar. Sweet and light synth melodies provide a gently building introduction perfectly paired with the soft vocal stylings of Aviella, who has a great songwriting career ahead of her. The energy picks up and Spirix goes on to gift us two explosive drops with the kind of chord stabs that get you grinning wide and throwing down on the dance floor. He apparently made his live debut at Snowglobe this past NYE and I can only imagine it was quite the set. I can’t wait for more Spirix originals like this one, and I hope more are coming soon!

SAN HOLO - LIGHT (LOOSID REMIX)

Music, RemixErin MaherComment

I've been seeing many San Holo "Light" remixes pop up, and all of them have been pretty good - but just now .... I had an eargasm listening to this one by Loosid. It was around this time last year I starting falling in love with Loosid's music - he has that great dark and sexy, slightly epic sound that effortlessly flows into headphone heaven! This sounds like my best dreams ... perfect! You can swoop that free download HERE!

KID FROOPY - BB (FOUR MISSED TEXTS) (VALENTINE REMIX)

Mike DooseComment

If you've been a BB reader for any time, you've probably noticed we are in love with Moving Castle, the collective with artists such as Jai Wolf, Manila Killa, WRLD, AObeats, Robokid, Chet Porter and many others. In August they put out this incredible track "bb (four missed texts)" from the relatively new and mysterious producer Kid Froopy. Now they've dropped a remix package featuring three unique takes on the future electro pop original which is so full of sugary, young-love feels. My favorite of the three comes from Kansas City-based producer VALENTINE.  He puts an edgy, raw, bass-tinged twist on the track, creating something super fresh in the process. It's a delicate blend of the original's cutesy charm and his own melodic take on bass music, which packs a healthy punch. Listen on iTunes/Spotify/Apple Music HERE or grab yourself a free download HERE.

KID FROOPY - BB (FOUR MISSED TEXTS)

Ah yes another great Moving Castle release this time courtesy of yung newcomer Kid Froopy. "bb (four missed texts)" is a upbeat electro pop record I'm dubbing future pop, with all sorts of earworms to dive into. The track starts energetic with light airy synths and piano before diving back down with a smattering of guitar strums and ambient pads. As the record picks back up with the vocals we're introduced to more spritely guitar licks and bass. The vocals lightly anchor the top end as the synth work bobs and weaves around the percussion. My favorite part comes about 2:50 in when we're treated to a breakdown with terrific arp work building us back up through the end. This original comes right after an excellent release of Kid Froopy's energetic remix of Hoodboi's "Closer ft. ASTR." There's a bright future ahead here, but for now you can grab this track on retailers here.

PEGBOARD NERDS & NGHTMRE - SUPERSTAR FT. KREWELLA (DNMO REMIX)

Music, Original MixEricComment

This makes the second artist I've supported in the last week or so, that has embarked on the sometimes necessary re-brand. Being a musician myself I know how important a good transition can be, so I'm excited to introduce and support DNMO with his first release a killer remix of the dynamite collab "Superstar." This young british producer (only 15!) cranks it up to 11 with the quick melodic build bringing us into a full bodied, bitcrush fueled drop that surprises and entices. He's flipped the hyped original into a slower, bass blowing gem with a consistent vox chop leading the way ahead of the deep sub and bright wide saws. Already receiving support and finding it's way into the hype machine popular chart, we have no hesitation lending our support to this up and coming producer as well. Be looking out for more bassy goodness coming from this camp. You can nab this as a free download here
